COASTAL FOREST STUDY REFERENCE CENTER - JOÃO JOSÉ BIGARELLA
The Coastal Forest Studies Reference Center was completed in 2018 to serve as a base for supporting environmental education, training, and research projects. The structure has an auditorium, dining room with kitchen, research support base(lab?) and two dormitory areas.
The construction was conceived based on a self-sustaining model: the energy is supplied by solar panels in an offgrid system, with batteries and inverters; water is collected from rain and passes through charcoal, sand and ultra violet light filters; water is heated from a wood-fired oven that passes through a coil and accumulates hot water in boilers, with a back-up gas system; The sewage is treated by root zone system.
All windows have full-screen insulation, which in addition to preventing the entry of insects, also prevents accidents with birds hitting the glass.
The facilities were designed with cross ventilation that allows the thermal reduction of the internal temperature even without air conditioning. The auditorium has two ceiling fans.
